Shannon4The Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute is grateful to our many supporters. Their involvement and generosity is critical to the success of the Institute, making it possible for us to raise the confidence and aspirations of high school girls in Maine. As part of the monthly newsletter, the Institute will highlight partners throughout the year.

Kaplan University is generously supporting the Institute at the $10,000 Visionary Circle level. As part of this partnership, Kaplan not only donated a $5,000 cash gift, and supplied t-shirts and journals for the 50 beta class of Olympia’s Leaders, but is also covering the costs of a work-study student who is now working in the Institute’s Portland office two days a week, Shannon Ouellette.

Shannon, an Army Veteran studying for her Bachelors of Science in Legal Studies, has been working with the Institute for the past month, and we are grateful for her assistance. From managing required fundraising filings in all 50 states, to proofreading and helping to keep us organized, Shannon has become an integral part of the team!

From Dr. Christopher Quinn, President of Kaplan University’s Maine campuses:

“Kaplan University–Maine is dedicated to the advancement of women in their professions – over 75% of our students and the majority of our leadership team are women. Kaplan University is delighted to be supporting the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute in a meaningful way, including through the commitment of Shannon, a KU work-study student, to support the Institute. As a U.S. Army veteran, mother, and terrific student, Shannon is a leader in her own right. We knew that she would be a great asset for the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute!”
